INDIGO

I love Indigo ...and the tiny batik patterns which are typical for this blue coloring
wether it is on a japanese old kimono, or as "Blaudruck" from this beautiful area in upper austria, which is very close to my home

..trying some new designs of earwires..

Great little tool

Just discovered this little, very helpful tool !

I have a big sliding caliper for my metal work already....,
but this small one is very handy, made of brass, has an inch and cm index and is quite affordable! ...no more improper ruler measuring for my little shapes...

Clip earrings...

..to answer some custom requests....

..the silver one was tricky to solder...even if I bought a part of the clip I had to complete it!

No problem with the golden, I didn´t complete the clips by myself....too expensive for experiments..

creative space....

Teapot - cushion

If you too own one of these beautiful heavy iron japanese teapots, you probably know the problem: on wooden tables they mysteriously leave black marks.....which they don´t do on fabric.

I used some left over pieces of fabric to solve the problem

Looks original japanese, right?

surprise in the morning

Don´t know what to say.....
Think I have to go to buy a big bunch of tulips today...

Looking for inspiration

There are different causes which initiate a creative process !
For me playing with the material is one.

I´d like to show that by this example:
Soldering silver scrap on a ring band is the basic of my massive "one of a kind rings".
At this point I have no idea about the finished ring.
During the working process some shapes emerge and inspire me.

in this particular case the inspiration came from a painter which work I love.

...maybe you can guess the name?

little hint...he was born in russia

Working with a model

As an independent small business, the possibility of presenting your products in a professional way with living models is limited.
On the one hand due to the costs, on the other hand due to the matter of fact, that perhaps your pieces are one of a kind or low volume production, It would be quite inconvenient and time consuming.

I once thought the solution for this is to have a model that lives with me, and I played around with modelling clay:

The result was nice and I shot many Photos with my "Creature"...but in fact the dimensions were not perfect in relation to a real Head.
So I doubt if this will induce somebody to buy my earrings!

...but taking Photos on a real ear is also not the answer to everything.
Because I´ve been told, many customers don´t like the feeling their earrings are already worn.

My daughter was a great model for my pendants, but she is studying abroad (very abroad..), and until there is no chance for "beam me up, scotty"! ..... I can forget that too.....

BUT....I think it can be very charming to experiment with different, uncommon ideas and requisites! (wearing gloves is a great thing, when your hands are 56 years old!)..

Finally: I will continue with experimenting, and if I have a flash of inspiration once, I will tell....
And here you can read others thoughts about "working with a model":
