 Ich nehme weiche vorgewaschenen Seide als Überzug, und weichen dünnen Baumwollstoff als Inlet.
Weich und dünn ist wichtig damit sich das Kissen der Augenpartie gut anpasst

Important is to take very soft an thin fabrics to keep the cushion flexible.
I took pre-washed, soft pea green silk and soft, thin white cotton .

Zwei Kissenhüllen, ca 20 x 10 cm
two pillow cases measuring approx. 20 x 10 cm

Die weisse Hülle wird gefüllt mit ca 250 Gramm Leinsamen oder ungeschälter Braunhirse
The white one filled with ca 250 Gram linseed or  unpeeled millet

Ein Verschluss zum Öffnen hat sich als unpraktisch erwiesen, sodass ich das Kissen einfach mit grösseren Stichen zunähe. Soll es mal gewaschen werden ist es kein Problem diese aufzutrennen und wieder zu schliessen, dauert keine 4 Minuten.

Closing the cushion with buttons makes it uncomfortable, so I decided to stitch up with big stitches
...it takes less than 4 minutes to unstitch and close it again if you want to wash the cover.

pure linen and a classic pattern - the ingredients for a perfect birthday gift !

a classy pyjama, timeless and precious, ....and no wonder the adult birthday child was very happy about!

...and along the way I had a helpful idea to get rid of my machine needle chaos:

each used needle in the matching fabric!  jeans, medium cotton, silk for the fine needles, thick elastic and thin jersey......really time saving!

Textile Kultur Haslach

Im Mühlviertel, bekannt für seine Leinenwebereien, findet jährlich im Zentrum der textilen Kultur Haslach das Sommersymposium statt. Zwei Wochen Workshops für alle textil - Begeisterten.
Lehrende und Lernende aus ganz Europa treffen sich hier!
Programm von 2015!

Ich nahm selbst mal vor Jahren an einem Filz workshop teil, und fand sogar eines der Teile das ich damals filzte..(unschwer lässt sich daran erkennen wo mein kreativer Schwerpunkt liegt).
Unglaubliche 16 Jahre ist das her, wie die Signatur zeigt:

The Upper Austrian area Mühlviertel is famous for it´s linen weaving mills.
Every year in summer in Haslach they organize a symposion for textile interested people.
Participants and teachers from all over europe meet here!

I joined a felting workshop there many years ago, and even found one of the items I made then.
(my creative focus on jewelry making is clearly recognizable..)

Patchwork - zuwenig Stoff ?

Tatsächlich ist genug Stoff da, aber im falschen Format! ....da hilft nur Zerschneiden!

Basically the fabric lasts, it´s just the wrong dimension ...patchwork is the answer!

                       

So wird trotzdem ein perfekter Vorhang draus!  für ein einzelnes Badezimmerfenster.

Der weisse, durchscheinende Stoff ist eingerahmt von grauem Leinen.

Sunday - Pastime - shibori

 I´m a great admirer of this artful textile manipulating technique!

...and I always wanted to try this !

To get that pattern I wrapped tread around jade beads...

I took the same color for both fabrics, silk and cotton, ......... a striking difference .

The cotton scarf was needled and then knotted (should have made more pics of this )

For my first experience I think it turned out well.

happy to have tried this, but it is really complex, even to make a simple pattern like this.

It has to be silk!

...to make necklaces for my "abstract Art" beads!

nothing is comparable with dupion silk . This fabric makes the colors shine!

Still on the experimental stage, and dealing with a lot of trial and error.

cut out in diagonal strips, prewashed ....maybe a thin cord inside..?

The ends are tricky to get them perfect, don´t want to have any metal components, that should be pure textile jewelry.

Teapot - cushion

If you too own one of these beautiful heavy iron japanese teapots, you probably know the problem: on wooden tables they mysteriously leave black marks.....which they don´t do on fabric.

I used some left over pieces of fabric to solve the problem

Looks original japanese, right?
